Great to see Playhouse tutors, Natalie, Hannah and Jess engage in PECS training via role play to ensure fluency and accuracy before putting into practice with one of our beneficiaries! PECS is an alternative communication system, whereby non-verbal children can choose a picture from a personalised selected array, and use to request for an item or express their needs. This is often used at some stage within our ABA Programmes to alleviate frustration and anxiety, minimise challenging behaviours and can actually sometimes ‘kick-start’ the child into using actual vocalisations.
