Today was a milestone for little Lena as she began her first day at pre-school! Lena has autism and a sensory processing disorder. She has some complex and at times, extremely challenging needs and does not always tolerate other children around her.
Thanks to funding from Simplyhealth Professionals, Lena is able to have an experienced ABA tutor accompanying her into pre-school to help support the development of her vocals, communication and play skills – essential for those early interactions with her peers.
At The Playhouse Foundation, we endeavour to work collaboratively with local pre-schools, to work closely to put in place mutually agreed targets in which best meet the needs of those vulnerable children whom we support.
Judging from today’s visit, it looks as though Lena’s found a lot to interest and motivate her – from sorting colourful plastic teddy bears to lining up dinosaurs! Well done Lena!
